What I am learning about faith

Faith is the belief that what God says to you can be trusted. He can not and will not contradict Himself. When Jesus came to Earth and was fully God and fully Man, He had a purpose and that was to do the will of the Father. Since we are believers, followers of God, we too have a part of this purpose to do God's will. So what is God's purpose for us? In His word He tells us what it is. Faith is not based on emotions, but on truth. God's word is truth. It is the foundation for which we base our present decisions and set our hope on that which is to come.

This morning I sang in the front of our church a song that I have heard before but it was extra special to me today. It was a reminder to me that we need to speak the truth out loud. So that God gets the credit, we get the reminder, and others get to hear the encouraging testimony. "I have a future, God has a plan for me." Are some of the words of that song. I think that it is amazing to me that God uses every day life to draw us closer to Himself.

So what part of faith is God teaching you about? For me faith is something that you learn, it is something that you have to ask for, it is something that is given to us. Faith requires patience, it requires obedience, it requires, listening to God speak to you. Faith is what holds our lives together. Apart from faith there is no salvation for us, apart from faith there is no security and no hope to hang on to. We have faith because it is a gift that God has given to us. Faith is a fruit of the Spirit. Faith changes lives forever.
